THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Our recruitment process begins with your application. First of all, make sure that you meet our minimum criteria and if so, complete the online application form. Check your application thoroughly before you submit it. One of our cabin crew recruitment team will fully assess your application against our current criteria and if you meet all of them, you will be invited to attend an assessment day when we are recruiting in your country.

For the assessment day you will need to make sure that you complete any forms that we have asked you to prepare for the day and remember to bring the required documents.

There will be a number of different stages at the assessment day and if you meet the requirements at each stage, you will be invited to remain for the next step. Our assessments are usually completed all in one day so you may be expected to spend the whole day with us.

The types of assessments you may be asked to take part in include a reach test to ensure that you meet our minimum requirements, English testing, group activities to assess your team-working and customer service skills and a final individual interview.

There will be opportunities throughout the assessment day to ask questions and get to know us a little better so please take advantage of them.

REQUIREMENTS

GENERAL FAQ

Q 1. What do I wear for the Assessment Day?

A. The appropriate dress code for an Assessment day is Professional/Business Attire.

Q 2. Am I able to attend a walk-in interview?

A. Assessment days are by invitation only, and in order to attend, you require an invitation that is sent to you (via email) by our recruitment team.

Q 3. Am I able to attend an Assessment day in another country?

A. Yes, you are. If we are holding an Assessment day in a country close to yours, and you would like to attend, you are responsible for all costs (Hotel/tickets) in order to attend.

Q 4. Will I be flying on all aircraft types?

A. During your training, you will learn about all of our different Aircraft types. Once you have obtained your licenses for each, then you will have the chance to fly on all of them.

Q 5. Does the company provide accommodation and transport facilities for the interview? Or will I be reimbursed for my travel arrangements by the company?

A. If you decide to travel abroad to attend an interview, then you must incur all costs in order to do so. Etihad will not reimburse costs associated with Cabin Crew Assessment Days.

Q 6. Can I apply if I am not 21 years old?

A. No. The minimum age you must be when submitting your application is 21 years old.

Q 7. Would my part-time experience, for more than 2 years, be considered as meeting the minimum of 2 years customer service experience?

A. If you have worked part-time over a period of two years, then this is not meeting the minimum criteria. However, if you have worked part-time for a total of 2 years and more, then this is suitable.

Q 8. I was unsuccessful in my last interview; how soon can I reapply for the same position?

A. If you are unsuccessful during an Assessment day, then you must wait for 6 months from the date of your assessment until you can re-apply. This does not guarantee that you will be invited once again as you will have to meet all of the appropriate criteria at that time.

Q 9. My Online application was rejected; how soon can I reapply?

A. If your online application was rejected, then you will have to wait for a period of 6 months before you can re-apply for the same position.

Q 10. Do you conduct telephone interviews?

A. No we don’t. All stages of our recruitment process are done in one Assessment day. Only F&B Managers may require a secondary phone interview.

Q 11. What is the time period starting from the time I am successful to the time I start my training?

A. Usually it takes approximately 4–6 weeks for all joining formalities to have been processed. However, this all depends on how quickly you are able to submit all necessary documents. Also, you must take into account your notice period at your current job.

Q 12. What is Police clearance, and what is the procedure to obtain it?

A. Police Clearance is only applicable to those who are residents of the United Arab Emirates. In order to process your application when successful, you must go to the police station in your city of residency and apply for Police clearance. You will need to pay the appropriate fee, your original passport and 4 passport sized photographs in order to obtain this. Normally, it takes a few days, and once you have obtained it, you must send it to the HR team to add to your file. Only then will we start the rest of the Secur Clearance process.

Q 13. How am I able to find out where your next Assessment days are located?

A. We always ensure that our online schedule is up-to-date, listing all locations that we will be visiting to recruit.

Q 14. Do I need to complete all necessary documents before I attend the assessment day?

A. Yes, it is important to have them all filled out beforehand. The purpose of this is for the recruitment team to collect all necessary documents towards the end of the day in a timely manner.

Q 15. Do I need to have my vaccinations before I come to the UAE?

A. It is advised that all candidates do their vaccinations in their home country; however, if this is not possible then you can always do it when arriving in Abu Dhabi. If any vaccinations have been done previously or during your childhood, you must bring the vaccination record so as not to repeat the vaccination.

Q 16. How do I apply for a Cabin Crew position?

A. To apply for a position of Cabin Crew, you can look at our online vacancy. If it is of interest to you, then you may fill out an online application including all details necessary. Once you have submitted this application, the recruitment team will review it, and if you meet the minimum criteria, then you will be shortlisted for a future Assessment day.

Q 17. What is the recruitment process for Cabin Crew?

A. The Cabin Crew Recruitment process consists of a variety of stages.

Online Application:

•You may apply online for suitable vacancies listed on this website. Only completed applications will be considered for shortlisting.

Shortlist:

•The shortlisting process involves a detailed review of your CV. Our recruitment experts take into account your qualifications, overall experience, your current employer and other relevant factors. Your application will be shortlisted if you meet the minimum criteria.

Assessment Day:

•Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an Assessment Day in a location closest to them. A variety of activities will be conducted, for example an English test, Group Activity and Interview. You may not be successful at all stages but you will be advised by our recruiters throughout the day. If a candidate successfully completes all stages, they then undergo an administrative clearance process.

Clearance:

•Security and Medical Clearance is required for all UAE based positions. An offer of employment is finalized only after the successful completion of these.

Offer of Employment:

•An offer letter is dispatched to successful candidates following confirmation of clearance. The duly signed offer letter must be returned to us by the date specified.

Q 18. Why haven’t I been invited to an Assessment day?

A. If you haven’t been invited to an Assessment day, this may be because you do not meet our minimum criteria. Also, your application may be incomplete which means that it has not been reviewed. Please make sure you check your application thoroughly before you submit it.

Q 19. What is the number of hours I can fly? In a week? In a month?

A. Your schedule is distributed on a monthly basis, and so it can vary from month to month depending on the destinations you may fly to.

Q 20. Do you offer any language courses such as Arabic?

A. Etihad Airways does not offer any Language courses. However, if this is something of interest to you, you can always research different language institutes online in Abu Dhabi that may be offering what you are looking for.

Q 21. If I wish to study a language course in a University, is it allowed?

A. You have the option to study a language course at a university; it is advised that those courses are online. Given the nature of the Cabin Crew role, your schedule is extremely flexible and so it will be difficult for you to physically attend at a University.

Q 22. How long do I wait before I can start flying?

A. In order to start flying, you have to obtain your flying license first. This will be given to you once you complete your initial training, and only then will you be released to fly.

Q 23. If I was unsuccessful during my first ever Assessment day with Etihad Airways, will this count against me for the next Assessment?

A. No your name will not be black listed for future Assessment days if you were unsuccessful during your first one. As per our policy, you will have to wait for a period of 6 months, and at that time, you are more than welcome to re-apply.

Q 24. If I was recruited in City A, but wish to depart from City B when coming to live in Abu Dhabi, will this be possible?

A. Yes, it will be possible. The HR team will be able to assist in making the necessary travel arrangements that are convenient for you to travel over to Abu Dhabi.

Q 25. Where is your Head Office?

A. We are located in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

PRE-JOINING FAQ

Q 1. Where can I collect my joining ticket?

A. An email will be sent to you containing E-ticket(s) and other details pertaining to your travel. You need only to print  the email and bring it with you to the airport.

Q 2. Do I need to get an employment visa prior to travel?

A. Yes. Your employment visa will be arranged by Etihad, and a scanned copy will be sent to you together with our E-ticket. Please ensure that you take the same with you on the day of travel. The original visa will be submitted to the airport of arrival by Etihad.

Q 3. How many kilograms of baggage can I bring with me?

A. You are entitled to 60 kgs of accompanied baggage on your travel.

Q 4. Does the 60kgs rule apply even if I am flying with a different carrier?

A. No. In this situation, we need for you to pay for excess baggage for the non-Etihad sector. Make sure to retain the original receipt and apply for reimbursement once you arrive in Abu Dhabi.

Q 5. Where can I have my medicals done?

A. You may go to any doctor who is/are able to perform the necessary tests and interpret the values after.

Q 6. Do I need to send the original medical reports to you?

A. No. A scanned copy of all medicals will suffice and you may bring the originals with you upon joining the company.

Q 7. Can I reimburse the medical tests expenses?

A. Medical expenses are non-reimbursable since they are pre-requisite(s) to your employment with the company.

ACCOMODATION

Q 1. Can I bring my family or friends to live with me in Company provided accommodation?

A. The company only provides Single Status Employment/Accommodation. It is meant for the employee only, is non-transferable and cannot be shared with others.

Q 2. If I initially stay in Company Accommodation, can I move out later on and get an allowance instead? How much notice do I need to give the company?

A. Cabin Crew who move out of Company Accommodation to their own accommodation will be paid a fixed monthly allowance in lieu of this. The entitlement comes into effect only after they have graduated from initial training.

TRAINING

Q 1. How long is the training process?

A. Training will last 7 full weeks as follows:

Week 1 – Induction, Grooming, Medicals, Uniform fitting

Week 2 – General Safety

Week 3 – Aircraft Type Rating Airbus and Dangerous Goods

Week 4 – Aircraft Type Rating Boeing, Security

Week 5 – Aviation Health

Week 6 – Grooming, In-flight Service Coral Economy Class

Week 7 – In-flight Service Coral Economy Class, Graduation.

F&B Managers undergo an initial training period of 9 weeks as follows:

Week 1 – Induction, Grooming, Medicals, Uniform fitting

Week 2 – General Safety

Week 3 – Aircraft Type Rating Airbus and Dangerous Goods

Week 4 – Aircraft Type Rating Boeing, Security

Week 5 – Aviation Health

Week 6,7,8 – Inspired Service Training

Week 9 – F&B Specific Training

The complete training schedule will be made available to you when reporting for duty

Q 2. Do I get paid during training?

A. Yes. For Cabin Crew, the company will be providing AED 3,000 Meal allowance and AED 300 Gift allowance. This is a start allowance and you will receive the basic pay every end of the month. F&B Managers will be paid AED 4,000 Meal allowance and AED 300 Gift allowance for the extended period of training.
